U15 defender Guilherme praises Palmeiras, eyes Paulistão finals

The Under-15 team of Palmeiras will face Red Bull Bragantino this Saturday (22), at 10 am (Brasília time), at the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium in Bragança Paulista, in the first leg of the final of the São Paulo State Championship for the category.

Defender Guilherme spoke about the big decision. The defender acknowledged the difficulty of the matches but emphasized that the team trusts the work they have been doing in the Paulistão and the group's focus on becoming champions.

“Reaching the final is always special, especially in such a competitive tournament as the Paulista. The games won't be easy, but we trust what we've done so far. We will remain focused, prepare well, and enter the field with the same determination and commitment as always to pursue this title,” he said.

The Verdão has the chance to win the Under-15 State Championship for the sixth consecutive time – the trophy has been with Palestra since 2019 (due to the pandemic, the tournament was not held in 2020). Last year, the team claimed the trophy by defeating Santos in the final, with two 2-0 victories. In total, the category has won the competition 12 times.

To reach the Paulista final, the Under-15 team eliminated Ferroviária, defeating the opponent 2-1 in Araraquara and 5-1 in Barueri. In the other semifinal, Red Bull Bragantino ousted Corinthians.

“We have had a great campaign so far. We achieved good results from the first phase and evolved throughout the competition. Advancing through the knockout stage like this, without losing any game and achieving a landslide victory in the semifinals, gives us even more confidence. This is the result of everyone's effort. Now, we want to close this journey by winning the Paulista,” concluded Guilherme.

The Palestra team has already played 28 matches in the tournament, with 24 wins, two draws, and two losses, totaling 102 goals scored and 12 conceded. The team's top scorer in the competition is Caio Matheus, with 12 goals.
