Sitting third in Group L (3 points), Mali are still in the running for a spot in the round of 32 at the 2025 U17 World Cup.

The Eaglets kicked off their Qatari adventure with a resounding 3-0 win over New Zealand, before falling by the same scoreline a few days later against Austria.

Mali's possible qualification scenarios:

The Eaglets will face Saudi Arabia, their direct rival for qualification, this Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 15:45 GMT.

- Win against Saudi Arabia: The Eaglets can top the group if Austria lose to New Zealand and Mali manage to overturn the goal difference with the Austrians. Otherwise, they finish second if the result in the other match does not go in their favor.

- Draw: Mali finish second if they have a better fair play ranking than Saudi Arabia, or qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.

- Defeat: Qualification would depend on goal difference to see if Mali are among the eight best third-placed teams out of the 12 groups.
