Marco Asensio has made an impressive start at Aston Villa, scoring seven goals in eight appearances for the Premier League club.
His last two goals came in the UEFA Champions League this week, with a brace against Club Brugge. Villa’s progression in the competition means they’ll face Paris Saint-Germain next.
Asensio will get the chance to face the coach who restricted his playing time earlier this season, a major factor in his decision to join Villa Park during the winter transfer window. Nonetheless, there’s the question regarding his future and whether he’ll stay long-term at Aston Villa.

After Villa advanced past Club Brugge, manager Unai Emery was asked about Asensio staying past his initial loan spell.
“It depends,” Emery said (h/t AS). “Of course, we’re happy with it.”
TEAMtalk reported Thursday, citing sources, that Aston Villa are working on a deal to sign Marco Asensio permanently.
PSG are open to a transfer, and talks are ongoing. The deal is reportedly centered around a transfer worth around £18 million, with Villa hoping to secure a bargain since Asensio will be in the final year of his PSG contract by June.
