Unai Simon was named the 2026 World Cup's best goalkeeper after Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in Sunday's final.
The Athletic Bilbao keeper conceded only one goal all tournament. According to L'Équipe, the award was confirmed moments after the triumph.
Rodri was named player of the tournament and Pau Cubarsi took the young player prize.
Simon succeeds Emiliano Martinez, recognised after Argentina's 2022 title. He is the second Spaniard to win the honour, following Iker Casillas in 2010.
Reflecting Spain's control, Argentina failed to register a shot that required a save in the final. The only goal Simon conceded came in the quarter-final against Belgium, when Charles De Ketelaere scored.
Simon has 66 caps for Spain.
