Uncertainty around two Barcelona stars as club prepare to return to training | OneFootball

After a much-needed holiday break, Barcelona will return to training soon as they gear up for the all-important Catalan derby to start the new year.

However, as Barcelona look to return to training, there is uncertainty surrounding the return of two of their stars.

The players in question are Dani Olmo and Ronald Araujo, who have been out of action for Barcelona in recent matches on account of very different reasons.

Araujo and Olmo’s return to training uncertain

According to SPORT, Araujo’s return to training seems uncertain right now as the club do not want to rush him back to the pitch.

The Uruguayan international had been struggling with his mental health following the backlash received after a costly error against Chelsea.

He was tipped to return to training on December 29 to prepare for the game against Espanyol. But it appears the club have left it up to the player to decide when he wants to return to training.

As for Olmo, he was expected to be only for a month. But it appears his injury is extremely sensitive, and given his past record, Barcelona are taking extreme caution.

The club, after all, cannot afford Olmo to aggravate his injury, especially before going into an important phase of the campaign. He was initially expected to play a few minutes vs Espanyol, but that appears to be a doubt at the moment.

Olmo was looking like one of the most in-form players at Barcelona before picking up an injury. The club, therefore, will want him fully fit during the second half of the campaign.

As for Araujo, his return will also be imperative given that Barcelona have also lost Andreas Christensen due to injury.

Although the Catalans are actively looking for a potential replacement from the market, nothing can be guaranteed given the club’s economic situation. Therefore, Barcelona want Araujo mentally and physically fit when he returns to the fold.
