Union Berlin centre-half ‘to join’ Dortmund on a free in June?

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs interested in Union Berlin centre-half Diogo Leite ahead of the summer.

BVB are monitoring the situation with June in mind, when the left-footed Portuguese will be eligible to move on a free.

Leite has been with Union since 2022 and has shown he has the attributes for the Bundesliga.

He could offer depth as a back-up, or become a successor to Nico Schlotterbeck, depending on the latter’s next step. For now, Dortmund’s interest is described as theoretical, though having him on a shortlist would hardly be negligent.

In January, Leite appeared close to a move to Lazio, but the transfer collapsed. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Ramon Hendriks of VfB Stuttgart is also on the Westphalian club’s shortlist for next summer.
