Portuguese sports daily Record reports that Union Berlin are looking to bring Jeremiah St. Juste back to the Bundesliga. The Sporting CP centre-back presently enters the final year of his contract with the Primeira League champions and is being shopped for a sale. In three seasons spent playing for Mainz between 2019 and 2022, St. Juste made 65 German top flight appearances.

Union remain on the market for another central defender due to the imminent departure of Portuguese centre-back Diogo Leite. After several devaluations, St. Juste’s current estimated market value stands at €6m; a figure very much within Union’s price range. The German capital city club have also been linked with Ivorian defender Sinaly Diomandé of Auxerre, however, who could be purchased for slightly less.

Both defenders could be procured if Union themselves end up losing two centre-backs. Leite and his colleague Danilho Doekhi both count as departure candidates in Köpenick. St. Juste has nevertheless been courted by multiple clubs and Union will have to fend off several competitors for the Dutchman. The 28-year-old may be headed to La Liga instead.
