Union Saint-Gilloise manager Sebastien Pocognoli spoke to reporters on the eve of the Europa League fixture with Roma.
During today’s pre-match press conference, Pocognoli spoke about the challenge that awaits his men.
“It’s a special match for my origins, against a club that I’ve always appreciated since I was a kid,” said Pocognoli.
“Once the match starts, the context will be different. It will be essential to be at the top of our abilities.”
“My maternal and paternal grandparents were Italian and Roma is a team that I’ve always appreciated in Italy.”
“Roma are a team with many qualities. We have to be at our best level and have the best game plan to have a chance,” he added.
“The European competition is like a breath of fresh air, another scenario and context compared to the national league. We don’t focus too much on Roma. We think about ourselves and our game.”
“Roma’s current situation doesn’t interest us, regardless of their condition, Roma remains a team of great value. It’s an important home game, we have to get points to maintain our ambitions in the competition.”
“We have to play with our values and our DNA. We will try to be an offensive and dominant team at home, even if the opponent is of a high level.”
