Defending champions Manchester United booked their place in a third consecutive FA Cup final with a commanding 2-0 win over rivals Manchester City at Joie Stadium.
The result is a devastating setback for City, whose hopes of silverware this season have now been dashed after a disappointing campaign.
United, who claimed their first-ever FA Cup title last season, were in control by halftime, leading 2-0 thanks to goals from Celin Bizet and Grace Clinton.
City, missing several key players due to injury, struggled to find a route back into the match despite a spirited performance from Brazilian forward Kerolin.
United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce delivered a crucial double-save in the second half, first pushing Yui Hasegawa's free-kick onto the crossbar and then denying Lily Murphy’s header on the rebound - City's best chance of the game.
Despite City's attempts to rally, United remained dangerous on the counter, with both Ella Toone and Bizet denied by City keeper Khiara Keating on multiple occasions.
The second half was more evenly contested, but United’s defence - boasting the best record in the Women’s Super League this season - held firm, ensuring the victory.
This marks a remarkable achievement for United, who now head to Wembley for their third straight FA Cup final, with a potential Champions League qualification spot on the line for next season.
They will face WSL leaders Chelsea on May 18th in a repeat of last year’s final, which saw the Blues run out 1-0 victors.
