An out-of-favour member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is continuing to rebuff any and all talk surrounding a potential departure from the club this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.
The name of shot-stopper Ter Stegen has of course dominated the headlines surrounding Barcelona for several weeks now.
This comes after the Blaugrana made clear that they are no longer depending on the German, by way of both the signing of Joan García, and Wojciech Szczęsny’s contract extension.
Deco and co. are understood to be actively searching for a new home for Ter Stegen, desperate to get his considerable wage packet off the books.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media this week is anything to go by, the 33-year-old continues to have altogether different ideas.
As per a report from MD:
‘The German player’s entourage insists he has a three-year contract, until June 2028, and points out that the player deferred his contract to help the Catalan club. Ter Stegen’s priority, they emphasize, is to remain at Barça.’
