Manchester City are reportedly reluctant to allow Jack Grealish to leave the club on a temporary agreement this summer, according to new details.

The England international has found himself in and out of Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up for the majority of the ongoing campaign owing to a mixture of poor form, as well as injury and fitness concerns.

When called upon, it has largely been spontaneously in huge occasions or in Manchester City’s lesser cup fixtures including en route to their FA Cup Final against Crystal Palace scheduled for mid-May.

Jack Grealish was instrumental in Manchester City’s Treble-winning success and Pep Guardiola has continued to call upon the forward against Real Madrid and most recently, in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest at Wembley.

But given the inconsistencies in his outings for the the club this season, there has been much speculation around the former Aston Villa captain’s future, and whether the versatile winger could seek a way out of the Etihad Stadium to somewhat rebuild his top-level career.

Now, according to the information of talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Manchester City will not allow Jack Grealish to leave the club on loan this summer amid recent links to the likes of Tottenham and his former club Aston Villa.

Given some of the confirmed and expected exits from the Etihad Stadium this summer, including Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker respectively, the report names Grealish as being a player seen as one of the senior heads in Pep Guardiola’s dressing room.

While City know they would not be able to recoup the £100 million they originally paid to bring the 29-year-old from Aston Villa in 2021, it is now further detailed that club officials are reluctant to sanction a temporary departure.

As for the position of Jack Grealish himself, it is stated that the player is settled in the north-west and his inclusion in Manchester City’s starting line-up against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final was seen as positive by his camp.

For now it remains to be seen what the future firmly holds for Jack Grealish and whether City would instead consider a permanent offer for the player despite their inability to make anywhere near what they spent on the England international.

In the meantime, manager Pep Guardiola continues to count on the forward and maintains his bold approach in media duties when it comes to supporting Jack Grealish publicly in front of reporters and supporters.

Although, speaking in early February, Guardiola did seem to suggest that he required much more from his £100 million man in order to hand him consistent starting opportunities for the club moving forward.

“I want much more; this is the level I’d like to see from Jack [Grealish] but it’s not been like that. Every club brings in new players every season. We don’t have the squad that won the Treble or 100 points,” Guardiola said earlier this year.

“We have maybe three, four, five, six players – no more than that. No new contracts make the players better. It’s the competition on the pitch and the locker room, that makes the players better.

“They have to feel it and they have to fight with Savinho, [Jeremy] Doku and Phil [Foden] can play there as well. He accept it’s never against him. Accept the challenge and prove your best. I saw a glimpse, I am going to rebel and show the manager how wrong he is.

That’s the point, I love that. It’s about performance to deliver assists and goals for the people up front.”
