Uriarte to run with 11 of 14 former directors in Athletic election | OneFootball

Former Athletic president Jon Uriarte, the only member to have formalised his candidacy, will run with 11 of the 14 directors from his last term after Goizalde Santamarina confirmed she is joining.

As reported by as.com, Santamarina, a board member under Uriarte from 2022 to 2026, was the last to confirm. Garazi Unibaso, Gorka Cubes and Ainhoa Iza will not continue for personal and professional reasons.

The ticket also includes Nerea Ortiz and Jon Ruigómez as first and second vice-presidents, with Jon Salinas and Xabi Álvarez as secretary and deputy secretary. Guillermo Ruiz-Longarte and Ibon Naberan are treasurer and deputy treasurer, alongside board members Roque Echániz, Laura Ruiz de Azua, Nacho Urigüen and Josetxu Urrutia.

The nominations window opened on Thursday, with Uriarte currently the sole applicant. Under the electoral calendar that began on 29 March, members aiming to stand in the eight May election have until 18:00 on Saturday the 18th to file.

Uriarte filed on the 30th and, within 48 hours, secured the required 2,070 signatures, equal to 5 percent of eligible voters. After checks, the Electoral Board will confirm valid candidacies at 18:00 on the 23rd. If unopposed, the Bilbao businessman would be proclaimed president for the next four years.
