Roma finish strong with win over Galatasaray

Scorers: Corelli 9', Ventriglia 82', Linari 90+3

Both Roma and Galatasaray had already been knocked out of the competition before the match kicked off, but the Italian side came out on top with a 2-0 win.

Alessandro Spugna's side started well and took the lead inside of 10 minutes when a superb chipped cross from Manuela Giugliano picked out Alice Corelli, who chested the ball down and unleashed a wicked shot that goalkeeper Gamze Nur Yaman had no chance to save.

As full-time drew closer, the Giallorosse doubled their advantage when 17-year-old Rosanna Ventriglia danced past the Galatasaray defence inside the box and beat the goalkeeper at the near post with the shot.

Just to rub salt into the wounds, Elena Linari added Roma's third three minutes into added time.

Next up for the capital club is a clash with Fiorentina in Serie A on January 6th.

Group winners Lyon prove their dominance with Wolfsburg win

Scorers: van de Donk 81'

Lyon had already won Group A before this match began, but found a way to beat Wolfsburg 1-0.

After 80 minutes of stalemate, Lyon finally found a way to break the deadlock when some good work from Kadidiatou Diani down the right-hand side found Daniëlle van de Donk, and the Netherlands international delivered a tidy backheel into the back of the net from close range.

Wolfsburg also head through to the knockout stages in second place in the table.

Chelsea top group B with Real Madrid comeback

Scorers: Weir 7'; Macario 51' (PEN),56' (PEN)

Chelsea secured top spot in Group B as they came back to beat Real Madrid by a 2-1 scoreline.

Real Madrid were looking up to the task straight from the kick-off, and they took the lead after just seven minutes when Linda Caicedo found Caroline Weir inside the box and – despite Hannah Hampton's best efforts to tip the shot over the bar – found the back of the net.

Chelsea brought on Catarina Macario for the second half, and the substitute had immediate impact when she had the ball in the back of the net, only for her attempt to be ruled out for offside.

And was Macario won a penalty when she was fouled inside the box by Olga Carmona after 48 minutes, and she fired the spot-kick home to put the Blues back on level terms.

Carmona then handled the ball inside the box and Chelsea were awarded another penalty, which Macario stepped up to take and scored.

Real Madrid stepped up the pressure at the end of the game, but will now have to settle for second spot in Group B.

Celtic bow out with unfortunate own goal flurry

Scorers: Van Dooren 20', Rodgers 34' (OG), Ross 43' (OG)

Two own goals saw Celtic lose their final UWCL group stage game to FC Twente.

Kayleigh Van Dooren was terrorising the Celtic defence from the get-go and got her reward when she controlled the ball well and slotted it to Lisa Rodgers' right after getting on the end of a through ball.

Things went from bad to worse for Celtic goalkeeper Rodgers when she was left wrong-footed from a Van Dooren corner and tipped the ball into the back of her own net.

Just before the half-time whistle blew, Celtic conceded another own goal as a corner from Danique van Ginkel was turned in by Natalie Ross at the back post.

Yet this match was just for pride, as both sides had already been eliminated from the competition before the match kicked off.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place in February, with the first legs scheduled for 18th and 19th March.
