Vahid Halilhodzic said he is ready to advise Nantes’ owners after a chaotic end to the season. “They have a very difficult task. If they want me to help, to advise, I will be delighted,” he told L'Équipe.
On the 34th and final day of Ligue 1, the match against Toulouse at La Beaujoire was halted in the 22nd minute after flares and a pitch invasion, then abandoned when referee Stéphanie Frappart said play would not resume. Halilhodzic tried to contain supporters who had come onto the pitch.
“Yesterday they ate with us despite the difficult sporting situation, the president thanked the players for their behaviour. He thanked me too. Now it is for him and his son Franck to find solutions to change things, so Nantes becomes the Nantes we know.”
Relegation leaves the Canaris preparing for Ligue 2 next season. At 74, Halilhodzic remains willing to lend a hand.
It was his final night of the campaign in the Nantes dugout, at the club of his heart.
