Valencia begin pre-season with clear aims in Mestalla's final year | OneFootball

Valencia began pre-season on Thursday with medicals, the squad setting clear aims for a step forward in the club’s final year at Mestalla before the move to Nou Mestalla. According to Superdeporte, senior players, echoing Pepelu’s message, framed the campaign around finishing as high as possible.

Players reported from eight in the morning to IMED hospital, attending in groups for medicals, bloodwork and stress tests. Assessments will continue over the first days in staggered slots.

José Luis Gayà said he was delighted to be back and ready to give everything from the start. He viewed the last season at Mestalla as added motivation and repeated that the objective is to end as high up the table as possible.

Luis Rioja hoped for a good season, with the aim of improving on last year and taking a step forward.

Hugo Duro, starting his sixth season with Valencia, said the group are keen to do things well and give supporters a lift.

From Monday, early morning sessions on the training pitch will begin to avoid the intense heat across Europe. Corberán will monitor progress, with particular attention on new faces and young players seeking a place in the squad, though the task will be demanding.
