Valencia are set to plug their pre-season gap with a friendly against Raja Club Athletic de Casablanca, according to La Grada, after the opening-day LaLiga match against Real Betis was postponed.
After the Trofeu Taronja on 8 August, they faced almost two weeks without a game before hosting Celta at Mestalla. The club moved to schedule the fixture for the weekend of 15 or 16 August.
The calendar change forced a rethink of summer plans, reducing early-season minutes and interrupting the coaching staff’s planned build-up. With league matches due to bunch once the campaign begins, maintaining sharpness now is seen as essential.
Valencia meet Stoke City this Saturday in another warm-up, aiming to increase minutes and raise intensity ahead of kick-off.
Raja are long established among Africa’s elite. Founded in 1949, the Casablanca side have won three CAF Champions League titles and six international trophies, and in 2013 they stunned Atlético Mineiro before losing the Club World Cup final to Bayern Munich.
They finished third in the 2025/26 Botola Pro with 56 points, a position that secures a place in the next CAF Confederation Cup. The proposed match would give Carlos Corberán’s team a demanding test before Celta.
