Vasco are close to signing centre-back Alan Saldivia from Colo-Colo. According to Globo.com, the Rio club have moved towards the Chileans' terms and Colo-Colo director Anibal Sosa said the move had been approved.

Vasco first proposed a loan with a purchase clause, then received a counteroffer. After talks, the parties agreed a split of the player's rights. The club view the arrangement as a loan that guarantees 50% of his rights, with an option to buy an additional share.

Saldivia favours a switch to Brazilian football and had told Colo-Colo he wished to join the Rio side.

Head coach Diniz has championed the move, with the club monitoring Saldivia since August last year. Negotiations were revived early last week.

Born in Rivera, Saldivia came through Defensor Sporting and joined Colo-Colo in 2022, making 94 appearances across the last three seasons in Chile. Vasco see him as a useful addition for 2026 as the defence is reshaped after Maurício Lemos' contract termination and Lucas Oliveira's pending move to Mirassol. They open the Campeonato Carioca at home to Maricá on 15 January.
