Vasco: Midfielder JP extends contract until 2028 | OneFootball

Vasco have officially secured a longer stay for academy product João Pedro, known as JP, extending his contract from December 2027 to the end of 2028.

Rádio Tupi reports that the updated term and salary adjustment are already registered on the CBF’s daily bulletin, the BID.

The renewal aligns with the club hierarchy’s plan to reshape the midfield amid imminent departures, creating space for younger options. Under the current staff, the indication is for JP to see more minutes in the second half and remain in matchday groups. The squad are due back at São Januário on 22 June.

JP joined the Rio club in 2019, lifting youth honours before reaching the first team. He debuted in 2024 in a 2-1 win over Grêmio and has made 22 senior appearances since.

The following year he was loaned to Avaí to gain experience, emerging as a standout during Série B of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Back from Santa Catarina, his involvement increased compared with his initial transition year. In 2026 he has featured nine times for Vasco, including Copa Sudamericana action against Audax Italiano at Estádio La Florida in Santiago.

He is yet to cement a starting spot or win a senior title, but inside the club he is viewed as a high-potential option to support the side’s creative structure for the rest of the year.
