Vasco da Gama have opened talks to extend Philippe Coutinho’s contract, which currently runs until mid-2026. According to Atenção Vascaínos, there is optimism on both sides over a new agreement.

Discussions between the football department and the player’s camp are centred on final details, particularly the length of any fresh deal. The No 10’s continuity is viewed as strategic for the club’s sporting plan, given his influence, leadership and bond with the São Januário crowd.

Coutinho’s form in 2026 has underpinned that stance under head coach Fernando Diniz. In five competitive matches he has four goal involvements, three goals and one assist.

He was decisive in the win over Maricá in the Campeonato Carioca. He also scored and conducted play in the derby against Botafogo.

The attacking midfielder found the net in the Campeonato Brasileiro opener too, scoring Vasco’s only goal in defeat to Mirassol at Maião.

Since returning to the club in July 2024, he has undergone a gradual physical and technical readaptation. Now fully integrated and operating closer to goal, he strengthens the case for a renewed deal as he leads the Cruz-Maltino into this year’s tests.
