Globo.com reports that Vasco face a difficult negotiation with Nottingham Forest as they seek to take Cuiabano on loan.
Forest are not inclined to loan him back to Brazilian football at this stage. The left-back has not had first-team opportunities and featured for the club’s under-21s against PSG in the Premier League International Cup on Monday.
His camp view a return to Brazil for regular high-level minutes favourably. If he does go back, he would prioritise Botafogo after 2024 and 2025 there, when he won the Brasileiro and the Libertadores in General Severiano.
He was sold to Nottingham Forest midway through last year, then loaned back by the English club only days later.
Vasco have sold Leandrinho to Al-Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates. At left-back they have only Lucas Piton, the subject of proposals from Besiktas in Türkiye, and Victor Luís, so they want to strengthen. Cuiabano is viewed as strong, quick and attack-minded.
Vasco will attempt to convince Nottingham Forest to sanction a loan at the end of January. They do not rule out an option to buy, or an obligation to purchase tied to targets.
