Vasco to face Olimpia and reunite with Sebastián Ferreira and Raúl Cáceres | OneFootball

Vasco host Olimpia at São Januário on Thursday in the third round of the group stage, with reunions for Sebastián Ferreira and Raúl Cáceres.

According to Globo.com, neither player made a lasting impression during their time at the club.

Ferreira arrived on loan in July 2023 at the request of Ramón Díaz, having worked with him at Libertad between 2020 and 2021. Signed to cover the exits of Pedro Raul and Rwan Seco, the Paraguayan forward featured in 13 matches without a goal involvement, then returned to Houston Dynamo at the end of the year as Vasco declined a purchase option.

He later had a spell at Rosario Central in 2025. Now back in Paraguay with Olimpia, he alternates between the starting XI and the bench, with 15 appearances this season and three goals.

Cáceres is a regular starter at right-back for Olimpia. He played for Vasco in 2019, started for part of the year and won the Taça Guanabara, but lost his place to Yago Pikachu after Vanderlei Luxemburgo took charge.

After leaving Vasco, he turned out for Cruzeiro, América-MG and Vitória, before joining Olimpia in 2026. This season he has 17 games and two assists.

The fixture carries extra weight for Vasco, who sit bottom of Group G after two rounds with one point. If they beat the Paraguayans by two goals, Renato Gaúcho’s side will go top, a spot currently held by Olimpia.
