However, Chelsea also had another name on their radar last summer in Gremio’s Mec, but a move failed to materialise, and the youngster has opened up on interest from the Blues.

“The talks with Chelsea were real,” he told ESPN Brazil.

“It is a very big club, you cannot deny that. There are many Brazilians there as well. I was happy, really happy, that they showed interest.

“They came to watch some matches. I always say that the future depends on the present.

“If I keep getting good results, working properly and doing my job, clubs will keep watching.”

Mec, who is now 17-years old is under contract at the Brazilian club until 2027, and can play as an attacking midfielder and on both wings.

Zongo impressed for Burkino Faso at the recent under-17 World Cup and will first join Strasbourg, with a view to moving to Chelsea in the future.

The youngster is an attacking midfielder, and the Blues are believed to have fought off interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs for his signature.
