Mohammed Amoura is closing in on a move to Benfica. According to reports, the Lisbon club has reached a contractual agreement with the Algerian international who currently plays for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Eager to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season, Benfica’s management has set their sights on Mohammed Amoura, who enjoyed a promising campaign last year in the Bundesliga (10 goals and 9 assists in 31 matches). Fast, incisive, and clinical in front of goal, the player—who was developed in Algeria before making his mark in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise—has established himself as a key offensive asset in Germany.

While Benfica and the player have found common ground, particularly regarding contract length and salary, the toughest challenge still lies ahead: negotiating with Wolfsburg, who are not willing to let their striker leave on the cheap. The German club reportedly values Amoura at over €15 million, whereas Benfica initially hoped to seal the deal for a slightly lower fee. Talks are ongoing, and the coming hours could prove decisive.

At 24 years old, Mohamed Amoura has drawn interest from several European clubs thanks to his performances both at club and international level. He’s widely seen as a player capable of breaking open defenses, and his explosive profile would fit perfectly with the attacking style favored by the Eagles. SL Benfica has therefore gained the upper hand over the competition by securing the player’s agreement. All that remains is to convince Wolfsburg to part ways with their forward, which may require an improved offer.
