Vic Albuquerque, Gabi Zanotti praise Brabas’ pride after Brazil return

After returning to Brazil this Tuesday (3), the Corinthians players gave an interview to Fut das Minas upon their arrival in Brazil and commented on the team's campaign in the Champions Cup. Vic Albuquerque and Gabi Zanotti highlighted their pride in the group's performance throughout the tournament and reinforced the strength of Brazilian women's football against high-level opponents.

Vic Albuquerque spoke about the expectations surrounding the decision and the feelings after the campaign ended, emphasizing the process the team went through since the start of the season. “I waited a lot for this day, I tried to experience it in many ways, but everything happened differently than I expected. We did very well, we are very proud of what we did, not just in the last match, but throughout this process since the beginning of the pre-season. We would have liked a different outcome, but we know we gave our best. And I'm happy to have helped in the way I did, but I really wanted to have the gold medal around my neck, right?” said Vic.

“But we will try to keep working so that next time, we can achieve it. And, as you said, it had to be us. I think we deserved this moment, not just this group, but all the groups that have been here, all the athletes who planted a little of our seed. We envisioned this project a lot, not just this championship, but the entire process we plan throughout the year. For us, it is very gratifying. I even get emotional talking about it, every time I talk about it, I get a little emotional because I really think it had to be us, and we made all this waiting worthwhile,” she added.

Gabi Zanotti also evaluated Corinthians' journey in the competition and highlighted the level of competition against teams from different football schools, as well as reinforcing the importance of these experiences for the growth of the sport in the country.

“I think we really showed the strength of Brazilian football. If you coldly analyze each game and divide the halves, we didn't lose any half: neither the first nor the second against Gotham, we won the second. We tied the first half against Arsenal, tied the second half, and lost in overtime. So, I think the result, obviously, wasn't what we wanted. I really dreamed of this title, but I think our campaign, overall, was very good,” said Gabi Zanotti.

“Also considering that the final opponent is a team that is already in the middle of the season, at its physical peak, has had several games throughout the year, and also has the experience of facing teams from different football schools. Take a Spanish team, a French, a German one, it's totally different.”

“May we have this more and more often, not just facing teams here within our continent. I think this will bring even greater development to our Brazilian women's football. What remains is that we really went there and competed on equal terms. We were a very mature team on the field, we knew how to play perhaps in a different way and showed the strength of Brazilian football, that our national championship deserves to be increasingly valued,” she concluded.

The Brabas now return to focus on the season's calendar. Next Saturday (07), at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Arena Barueri, the Brabas will face Palmeiras in the Women's Super Cup.
