Manchester United have been linked with several midfielders of late as they prepare to strengthen the position in 2026.
INEOS are looking to get the club back among Europe’s elite and have invested carefully to address the key issues in the squad in recent transfer windows.
This summer was all about strengthening the attack after a season in which they scored just 44 times in 38 Premier League games. The Red Devils have already scored 19 goals in 11 league games this season, just one fewer than leaders Arsenal. Next on INEOS’ agenda, it would appear, is the midfield.
Ruben Amorim is expected to push for a midfield revamp next year in a bid to help his team find a higher gear. United have shown promise this season, but the midfield remains a concern for several reasons.
Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation in a deeper role, while Casemiro has also rediscovered his old form. However, the Brazilian is out of contract at the end of this campaign, adding to the speculation over his future.
Kobbie Mainoo, meanwhile, remains linked with an exit, having struggled to convince Amorim so far. Manuel Ugarte has already divided opinion among fans following a series of shaky outings.
The English giants have been linked with the Premier League-proven trio of Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller is reportedly on United’s radar as well.
A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person states that the Red Devils also have their eyes on Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt. A fresh update has provided an insight into the situation.
According to Fichajes, Froholdt has an €85 million release clause in his contract with Porto. The report adds that Atletico Madrid are in the race as well.
The Danish midfielder has been outstanding since joining the Portuguese club from Copenhagen this summer, and is already an established figure under Francesco Farioli. This season, Froholdt has registered 17 appearances across competitions, all but two of which were starts.

The Red Devils are looking for a dynamic midfielder who can take responsibility in the middle of the park, and the 19 year old fits the bill. Initial scouting reports have been positive, with the Premier League giants also impressed by the player’s technique and personality.
The youngster has received praise for his running capacity and famously played the full 90 minutes in four games in the space of 10 days in February this year. Copenhagen manager Jacob Neestrup also claimed that Froholdt had covered over 17 km in the 3-1 win over Heidenheim in the Conference League.
Froholdt has already shown maturity beyond his years and could be the leader United need in midfield. However, neither the Red Devils nor Atletico Madrid have submitted an offer for the youngster yet.
Porto would prefer to keep hold of him for at least another season, although a suitable offer could turn their head. The Premier League giants will be aiming to sign the Dane for less than his release clause, but interest from Los Rojiblancos could be a cause for concern.
