According to El Pais, Sunderland had a €25m January bid for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz rejected after the 22-year-old turned down a move to Wearside. Real Madrid retain a 50% resale clause from last summer's deal, and Munoz will only leave if his €40m release clause is met, with Sunderland among several European admirers.
Munoz's stock has risen after a first senior Spain call-up. He marked his debut with a goal in Friday's friendly win against Serbia.

He will hope to impress head coach Luis de la Fuente again when the European champions face Egypt on Tuesday night.
A strong performance could put him in contention for Spain's World Cup squad in North America this summer.
La Roja are chasing a first world title since 2010.
