Manchester United are unlikely to sign Victor Osimhen if the latest updates on the striker are anything to go by.
With a desire to strengthen their attack after a frustrating season in front of goal, United were expected to bring in a striker and two attacking midfielders.
Matheus Cunha has already joined, and Bryan Mbeumo is expected to follow. However, the question remains: who will complete United’s attacking overhaul?
That striker could be Moise Kean, Viktor Gyokeres, or Jonathan David, but it is unlikely to be Osimhen.
The Nigerian forward, fresh off a brilliant season where he racked up 37 goals and eight assists on loan at Galatasaray, was expected to seal a permanent exit from Napoli this summer.
After falling out with Napoli boss Antonio Conte, the 26-year-old was sent to Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
While with the Turkish giants, he maintained his prolific goal-scoring form, earning links to big moves this summer.
United, keen on securing a reliable goal-scorer, were among the clubs linked with him.
Osimhen had been seen as the ideal upgrade for United’s attack, but the deal now seems unlikely.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims Osimhen is expected to move to the Saudi Pro League, with the transfer likely to be finalized this weekend.
He asserts that Al Hilal are pushing hard to sign him before the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14.
The Saudi club has reportedly booked his medical and is prioritizing closing the deal.
If everything goes as planned, the Super Eagles hitman should already be in Paris to sign his contract.
However, uncertainty surrounding the move leaves space for other suitors to hijack the deal.

It remains to be seen whether United will make a late move, but that appears doubtful.
With INEOS’s hopes in the chase for Gyokeres growing by the day, Al Hilal may have more to worry about from another club than from United when it comes to sealing the Osimhen transfer.
