Ten-man Lyon hold on for vital away win

Lyon beat Nantes 1-0 in Ligue 1 round 21 tightening the race at the top despite finishing the match with ten player.
Olympique Lyonnais raised the pressure in the Ligue 1 title race after tough 1-0 away victory over FC Nantes in round 21.
The result lifted Lyon to 42 point in third place, just three point behind Olympique de Marseille in fourth who face Paris Saint-Germain next.
Nantes problems continued, with the home side stuck on 14 point in 16th place after fourth straight league defeat deepening their relegation worries.
The match decided in the 25 minute when Pavel Šulc finished calmly after low delivery from Afonso Moreira.
Lyon controlled long spells after taking the lead staying compact and patient as Nantes searched for a reply.
Lyon’s task became harder after the break. In the 61 minute, Brazilian forward Endrick sent off following VAR review after challenge on Matthis Abline.
The decision left Lyon with ten men for the final half-hour.
Endrick had already been booked early in the match and the dismissal ended his strong start with Lyon.
The teenager, on loan from Real Madrid, had scored five goal in his first five game adding two assist before this setback.
It was the third red card of his club career.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Lyon defended well, limited clear chances and protected their narrow lead until full time.
