Lamine Yamal once again left fans in awe during Barcelona’s final match of their pre-season tour in South Korea.
In a rain-soaked evening in Daegu, the 18-year-old prodigy did not need a goal to make headlines, as his 45-minute first-half display was more than enough to light up the stadium and prove why he is considered one of the most exciting young talents in world football.
Donning the iconic number 10 shirt, Yamal was at the heart of everything Barcelona created in the opening half.
His dribbles, flair, and confidence on the ball constantly had the Korean fans on their feet. Although he didn’t score, nearly all of Barça’s attacking danger flowed through his boots.
Yamal’s standout moment came in the 19th minute when he beat multiple defenders before laying the ball off for Gavi. The midfielder struck from the edge of the box to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead, but it was his creativity and awareness that made it happen.
His dribbling in tight spaces, followed by a composed cut-back, perfectly showcased his ability to control the tempo in the final third.
Minutes later, in the 37th minute, he performed two croquetas, a dribbling move popularised by Andres Iniesta, to get past his marker and fire a shot on goal.
Though the Daegu goalkeeper managed to keep it out, the move drew one of the loudest cheers of the night.
Every time he touched the ball, the Korean crowd erupted with excitement, braving the pouring rain just to witness the magic of Barça’s teenage sensation.
Yamal leaves Korea with two goals in pre-season and just one behind Gavi, who finished as Barcelona’s top scorer on the tour with three goals. Even without scoring in this final game, Yamal’s influence was undeniable.
From Messi-like feints to Neymar-esque flair, the young winger played with joy and freedom, thrilling fans and reminding everyone of Barcelona’s bright future.
