Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has revealed which Serie A side he was close to joining before eventually ending up at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The five-time Premier League winner and three-time Champions League finalist has recently revealed that he has ‘agreed a deal’ to move to Fiorentina in the summer of 2006, but was then swayed by interest from Liverpool, before eventually signing with Manchester United.
“In life, when people start speaking good about you, a lot of people find interest. I had interest from Fiorentina, I had agreed a deal to go there, then came Liverpool,” the former United and Inter defender said in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

Vidic would go on to join Manchester United in the summer of 2006 for a fee of around €8.4m (£7m).
His journey would eventually bring him to Serie A, as he saw out his playing career in San Siro with Inter between 2014 and 2016.
