Sporting striker’s future has been the talk of the transfer window

Former Arsenal midfielder Petit says that the Gunners should have no issue in beating their Premier League rivals to the striker’s signature.

“Gyokeres is in a transfer saga at Sporting and it will end dramatically,” he told EscapistMagazine.com.

“Sporting are looking to take advantage of all the speculation and looking at his price tag of £80million, Joao Pedro is going for £60m, Eberechi Eze might do the same, it doesn’t seem too high.

“If he has to pick between Manchester United and Arsenal? United are a mess. Arsenal have shown the way they want to play over the last three years and that would be the best move for him.”

Gyokeres’ future has been one of the hottest topics of this summer’s transfer window, with multiple reports detailing back-and-forths between the striker and Spoting president Frederico Varandas.

A ‘gentleman’s agreement’ was previously reported, saying that Sporting would facilitate Gyokeres’ departure should they receive an offer of €60million plus €10m in add-ons.

However, Varandas furiously refuted those claims, stating that, firstly, Sporting had not received any offers for Gyokeres, and secondly, that he would not allow the striker to leave for that price.
