Villarreal fans want to know which retro shirt the team will wear at San Mamés. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the reveal is on Thursday at MBFWMadrid.

Collector Josep Cabrera is following closely. He says he would not sell his historic shirts even for 3,000 euros.

For Athletic v Villarreal on matchday 31, set for 11 and 12 April, he would choose the Jugui 1993/94 for its blue, fabric and oversized crest.

He also cherishes the 1991/92 promotion shirt from La Línea de la Concepción, worn by Manolo Guijarro v Linense. That season players had two shirts and kits were reused.

Another standout is the Adidas 1982/83, so worn that crest and logo barely show, reflecting an era when shirts were reused for years.

From the modern era he keeps Thomas Christensen’s from the first promotion in Compostela, which inspired the 2022 centenary kit, and Gica Craioveanu’s from the first Camp Nou win.

He also points to the vivid blue Cagna second kit from 2000 and Guayre’s 2003/04 from the UEFA semi-final run under Pellegrini with Riquelme. He would like blue shorts on the day.

He recalls receiving a Gerard Moreno shirt from the 26 May 2021 Gdansk final against Manchester United, not match worn but still special.

Assessing the season, he says Europe hurt but league form is strong, and he would renew Marcelino. He maintains good ties with the club and shares his trove on Instagram via Museugroc.
