According to Nosso Palestra, former Palmeiras defender Vilson has filed a labour lawsuit against the club seeking lifetime compensation for alleged loss of earning capacity following a workplace injury, with the claim valued at R$ 6.525.000,00.
Vilson joined in early 2013 after a good spell at Grêmio to contest Série B, but a serious knee problem curtailed his season. In his filing, he says he was hurt on 21 April 2013 against Ituano in the Paulista, suffering a rupture of patellar cartilage in his left knee and undergoing arthroscopic surgery.
He adds that a September 2013 move to Stuttgart collapsed after he failed medical tests. On returning, he featured in only four matches and was diagnosed with tendinitis in the same knee.
His contract ended in December 2013 without renewal, which he links to the knee issue as reported in specialist coverage at the time. Seeking to continue, he says Cruzeiro initially failed him in medicals, then offered a short three-month deal so he could treat the injury, during which he played one match before the club declined to extend.
He says subsequent spells came at smaller clubs on short terms, with difficulties sustaining a run of games. He claims his promising career was compromised at 25 and ended at 28, arguing he could otherwise have played at a high level for at least a decade, possibly 15 years.
The petition seeks indemnity under article 950 of the CCB, starting from the date of the accident, with the final sum to be determined in due calculations.
