Under-fire chief executive promises work will be done to perform a “complete reset” at the club
Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham says the summer transfer window is “critical” if the club are to undergo a “complete reset” after securing Premier League survival.
Spurs avoided relegation on the final day of the season after a 1-0 win at home to Everton.
There were wild celebrations in the stands and on the pitch at full-time, but soon attention turned towards next season, with Spurs determined to put a tumultuous year behind them.
Vice-captain Micky van de Ven described the club’s plight as “unacceptable”, while manager Roberto De Zerbi said the club had to sign top-level players this summer.
Non-executive chairman, Peter Charrington, then released a statement on Monday in which he said the club had committed to “invest across multiple transfer windows” to redress the balance of the squad.
The Lewis family have since penned their own open letter to fans, vowing to rebuild trust with the club's supporters and committing to "meaningful change".

Speaking to the BBC, Venkatesham echoed those claims and underlined the importance of making the necessary changes this summer.
"The squad needs work, and the squad hasn't got the right balance," Venkatesham said.
"We need experience and leadership, and also that kind of physical robustness to play in the most demanding league that exists.
"We need to strengthen the club over multiple transfer windows, but this transfer window, in particular, is going to be critical."
Spurs have already begun to put plans in place for the summer transfer window, with Standard Sport reporting on Tuesday that they are set to reopen negotiations for Manchester City winger Savinho.
The north Londoners are also set to reignite their longstanding interest in Andy Robertson, having tried to sign the former Liverpool left-back in January.
Reports also suggest that free agent and former Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi and City goalkeeper James Trafford are targets ahead of a busy summer.
De Zerbi admitted after the Everton game that he was keen to keep only around 11 to 12 players at the club next season.
He has made an extraordinary impact so far ... it is hard to underestimate the scale of the challenge he walked into

The Italian wants wholesale change, and the club say they are prepared to back him.
"I think he has made an extraordinary impact so far," Venkatesham continued.
"We have to recognise that it's early days, and we also need to recognise that he's come into a very specific situation.
"It is hard to underestimate the scale of the challenge he walked into. And it's hard to describe what a significant impact he has had in the dressing room with all the players.
"I think he's an excellent coach, and we think that he plays the style of football that our supporters and the broader football public want to see."
Change is not limited to the playing squad either, and Venkatesham admits the club’s Hotspur Way training ground will undergo an overhaul to turn it from a “five-star hotel” into a “performance environment.”
"Our training centre is amazing, one of the best, if not the best in the world.
“But when you look around, it looks more like a five-star hotel than it does a performance environment. That will change over the summer.”
