Bayern Munich trainer Vincent Kompany had an interesting way of describing his team’s fight back from a 0-1 deficit in the Bundesliga “Top-Spiel” on Saturday evening. After a poor first half against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena, the German record champions scored five unanswered goals to complete yet another rout of a league rival.
The win means that Bayern’s undefeated Bundesliga campaign officially stretches into the second half of the season. The Bavarians sit 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table. The title race appears effectively all but over with just under half of the season left to play.
“They really caused us problems in the first half and were clearly the better team,” Kompany remarked in his post match interview with the Sky Germany sports desk. “It felt like they were twice as good as us. But the second half: my God!
“The lads really delivered,” Kompany continued. “It was pure old-school mentality: running, fighting, and tackling. And one can’t praise Manuel Neuer [for making two monster saves against the opponent] enough.“
