Vincent Kompany states that the “anticipation” is building regarding the FIFA Club World Cup | OneFootball

Bayern Munich are set to take part in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup that is set to take place in the United States this summer.

With the 32 sides competing in the tournament having already been confirmed, there is a chance that Der Rekordmeister will face Borussia Dortmund in what would be an intriguing Der Klassiker clash.

However, speaking to FIFA (via @MiaSanMia on X), Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany has expressed excitement about facing sides from all over the globe in the summer, emphasising the importance of the fact that the fixtures will be competitive:

“The closer we get to the tournament, the more the anticipation builds. It’s an exciting season with the new formats of the Champions League and the Club World Cup. At Bayern, every trophy is important, so by the time we get to America, it will be a high priority.”

“It’s always difficult to picture the entire competition when it’s the very first time, but if I can name a benefit of it, it’s to play a competitive game against Boca Juniors as part of a larger competition. It’s exciting to see some of the best fan bases in the world, ours and theirs. And some of the most traditionally successful clubs in the world come up against each other. I think there will be a lot of anticipation around that game. Of course, I hope Bayern wins, and there will be beautiful moments for our fans.”

It is clear to see that the aim for Der Rekordmeister is to come away from North America with the honour of being named Club World Cup champions—after all, winning and silverware is ingrained into the DNA at Bayern.

Nevertheless, it will also be an opportunity to showcase the club to those watching, a valuable opportunity to further grow the brand of Bayern Munich across the world.
