Vinícius Jr reacted with laughter on social media after Real Madrid won at Mestalla, as Valencia’s slump deepened.

According to Superdeporte, Carlos Corberán’s side are back in severe relegation danger, holding only a one-point cushion over Rayo Vallecano, who have a game in hand.

Against Arbeloa’s team there was effort but little else, with Thibaut Courtois not called on to make a single save in Madrid’s victory. Valencia committed only 10 fouls, 30% fewer than their opponents.

Los Blancos travelled needing a win to keep pace with Barça and got it despite key absences. Three attacking pillars were missing, Vinícius, Rodrygo and Bellingham.

Vinícius, who had taken an unnecessary yellow card against Rayo Vallecano, watched the match from afar. He later posted “Pegamos!!!!” with a laughing face and crossed fingers in response to Madrid’s victory message.
