Corinthians forward Vitinho, 32, sustained a left knee meniscus injury in training on Friday 24 July and will have surgery on Wednesday 29.
The club said in a statement that Dr. Moisés Cohen will operate, with medical chief Dr. Ricardo Galotti in attendance.
He was sent for scans on Saturday and saw Dr. Cohen on Monday before the decision. He had not played since 30 April, when Corinthians beat Peñarol 2-0 in the Libertadores at Neo Química Arena.
After that match he suffered a right hip obturator strain and a hamstring tendon injury. He began transition work on 15 July, then picked up the current knee problem during those sessions. Recovery for such cases is usually three to six months, depending on post-surgery progress.
Left-back Hugo Farias had the same issue in February and, despite starting transition on 15 July, is still not available.
In October 2025, the number 11 sustained a medial meniscus injury in his right knee during a 3-0 win over Mirassol, required an arthroscopy and missed about six weeks.
Signed from Al-Ettifaq in August 2025, Vitinho has 32 appearances, 17 wins, six draws and nine defeats, plus one goal and four assists. He was part of the 2025 Copa do Brasil winners and is contracted until December 2026.
