Vítor Vinha could leave Benfica soon, despite Rui Costa wanting him to remain, according to Glorioso 1904.
The under-23 coach is weighing up a new challenge, even though he retains the full confidence of the club’s board.
He is understood to feel his cycle at the Estádio da Luz may be ending and that he is ready for the next step. His work with the under-23s has attracted interest from other clubs, and the juniors’ recent UEFA Youth League campaign drew wide acclaim across Europe.
For now, his focus is on finishing the season strongly. Benfica’s under-23s are defending the Taça Revelação, and meet Santa Clara in the semi-finals after knocking out Braga.
Vinha is in his second season at the club, following spells with the second and youth teams at Rio Ave and Académica. Remaining at Benfica is an option, while a departure is also being considered.
