Four matches and four victories. Results achieved as a team, with many different players making their mark. Choosing the Player of the Month is certainly no easy task. Competing for the September MVP award are Christian Pulisic, Alexis Saelemaekers, Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modrić. But why are they all in contention?
Let's start with the month's top scorer, the player who found the net in three matches for a total of four goals: a brace in Udine, and strikes against Lecce and Napoli. Christian Pulisic's third season at AC Milan has taken off with even better numbers than the previous two campaigns, including his August finishes against Bari and Lecce. The US international is a constant, reliable presence who always makes a valuable contribution.
The other three candidates, on the other hand, are newer faces, especially compared to last season. Alexis Saelemaekers has fully re-established himself in the Rossoneri setup after loan spells at Bologna and Roma, and his impact has been significant. The Belgian was the team's best performer in AC Milan v Lecce, and his first goal of the season against Napoli is a well-deserved reward for his consistently high performance levels.
Adrien Rabiot, one of the final arrivals in the summer transfer window, has also been an ever-present in midfield. International duties initially limited his time with the squad, but that hasn't stopped him from being indispensable ever since, with the former Marseille man contributing at both ends of the pitch. And then we have the maestro orchestrating play, Luka Modrić. From his decisive goal against Bologna to his infectious celebration against Napoli, there are already many memorable moments from the Croatian superstar, who, like Rabiot, has been irreplaceable in midfield over the past month.
