Kyle Walker joined AC Milan in January, and already there are reports suggesting that his move may be made permanent, especially with the player speaking fondly of the club.
When links to Walker first emerged, there were a lot of questions about how capable the Englishman would be in Serie A, but for the most part, the defender has held his own fantastically, even improving the defence in some respects.
So, there have already been suggestions that the defender’s loan move could be made permanent in the summer, with a €5 million clause inserted into his contract. However, he has already admitted that his chapter with Manchester City is not over, which may create some doubt.
Speaking on his podcast, the defender shed light on his arrival, his impact on the squad, and how Zlatan Ibrahimovic is to be around, and his words have been relayed this morning by Milan News.
“Initiation rite? I had to sing an Amy Winehouse song. I was a bit nervous. Mike Maignan wanted to ask me, but he didn’t want to do it. I told him: ‘I’ll do it, Mike, no problem’. I got on the chair, everyone was dancing, even the coach. With a cigar? No, he didn’t have one.”
His impact…
“Going into the AC Milan dressing room was different, you go in and you know that people will look at what you do, they’ll try to emulate my routine, if I go to the gym, if I do the right things in the right way. You have to be an example. I won a few things at City, now it’s about passing on my experience.
“The quality we have at AC Milan is fearsome. We all know it hasn’t been a great season so far, but we can finish it well. With the quality we have, between players and coach, regardless of what happens next season, we have to make sure we finish the season on a high note.”
Working with Zlatan…
“Ibrahimovic? I’ve played against him and I’ve seen him before, but he has an aura, especially at Milan and where I signed you can feel his aura. He is still like a player, but he has another role now. His aura is incredible.
“What he has done for this club, for this city, for football: he deserves everything he has achieved. The only one I can compare him with is Rooney, but it’s different because I know him personally and I know him as Wayne. Zlatan is very serious, he has a different role and he has a different personality to Wayne.”
