Wallace Yan misses two big chances as Flamengo start Carioca campaign against Portuguesa | OneFootball

Flamengo began their 2026 Campeonato Carioca on Sunday against Portuguesa, and Wallace Yan passed up two clear first-half chances.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the tie was brought forward because Flamengo are involved in the Supercopa do Brasil against Corinthians on one February. It is being played at Estádio Raulino de Oliveira in Volta Redonda.

On 12 minutes, after a worked Flamengo move, Wallace Yan took a pass in the box and tried to pick goalkeeper Douglas Borges's left corner, but shot wide.

On 22 minutes, Daniel Sales delivered a pinpoint cross and, from the six-yard box, the forward lifted over the Portuguesa bar. It remained 0-0.

As in recent seasons, Flamengo's Garotos do Ninho are handling the early rounds while the senior squad remain on holiday.

The first team are expected to make their first outing against Vasco on 21 January. They are due to report back on Monday 12 January at CT Ninho do Urubu to begin preparations for 2026.
