Paul Wanner has made a clear decision following his move from FC Bayern to PSV Eindhoven. The 20-year-old, who moved to the Netherlands for around €15 million in the summer of 2025, looks back on his time in Munich with gratitude, but makes it unmistakably clear that his focus is now entirely on his new role. Wanner has clear words, especially with regard to possible future scenarios at the record champions

„The Bayern chapter is no longer on my mind at the moment because I want to concentrate on my performances here,“ the attacking player made clear in an interview with Sport BILD. He deliberately chose his path in Eindhoven in order to continue his sporting development and take on responsibility, describing PSV as the ideal place to take the next step

What Wanner says about the criticism from Bayern boss Eberl

Nevertheless, FC Bayern remains an emotional presence for Wanner – especially in view of the direct reunion at the end of January. The midfielder is expecting some special moments when he faces his former club in the Champions League on 28 January. „It won’t be an everyday game: I’ll see team-mates and familiar faces again. We know that Bayern is currently one of the best teams in the world. But we also have quality: we want to annoy Bayern and try to beat them at home,“ explained Wanner

The youngster has also taken the critical words of sporting director Max Eberl surrounding his departure from Munich in his stride. Eberl had said that the player lacked the courage to compete. Wanner’s reaction to this was emphatically matter-of-fact: „There are always different opinions in the soccer business, that’s part of it. I’m glad I’m here. There’s no bad blood, everything is fine. I’m very grateful to Bayern because I was able to learn a lot there and had great experiences.“
