Work at the Spotify Camp Nou is moving forward at full speed as Barcelona aim to make their long-awaited return home for the fourth matchday of La Liga.

This fixture, set against Valencia on 14 September, would mark Hansi Flick’s first home game in charge.

Although the club has not yet secured all the required permits for reopening, progress on the stadium is clear. Recent images shared through Barça’s official channels reveal the final turf already laid, complete with pitch markings.

The seats in the first tier are now in place, while the benches and technical areas retain a design similar to the old setup.

Parts of the stadium’s interior have also taken shape, showing that the reopening is edging closer.

VIP seats and financial boost

One notable highlight from the updates is the completion of the VIP seating area, ready to host fans as soon as the stadium opens.

These premium seats have a major role in the club’s finances, with Barcelona selling them for €100 million.

The club is currently working with La Liga to validate its audited financial reports and determine this season’s salary margins, where revenue from these VIP packages will be a key factor.

Last week, the City Council approved a phased opening of the stadium. This means the First Occupation license will be granted progressively as work continues.

Balancing La Liga and Champions League commitments

While the target is to reopen for the Valencia clash, the start of the Champions League in September adds another challenge.

UEFA rules require all group-stage matches to be held in the same stadium. According to reports, the latest ECA report found over 200 deficiencies at Camp Nou.

However, most of those are minor and common in such inspections, with solutions already in place.
