In a team dominated by youngsters, Robert Lewandowski stands out as one of the few veterans towards the end of his career.
While he did initially struggle with the culture shift, he has come to embrace his new role in the dressing room and almost acts like a father figure to the youngsters in the team.
Admittedly, however, the player has opened up on how he cannot help but wonder at times how he is close to the same age as the fathers of some of the players he plays with.
As relayed by El Desmarque in a recent visual from Barcelona’s training session on Saturday, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was caught calling the Polish striker a funny nickname that is only understandable.
“Mister, grandpa, grandpa,” the player called Lewandowski, pulling the veteran’s leg over the age difference.
At this point, however, even the striker takes the comparison with a sporting sense as he knows that he is now in the final year or two of his professional career.
It still remains unknown as to what will happen to Lewandowski’s future beyond this season. While some rumours state that he will retire, other sources claim a one-year extension is on the cards.
Regardless, Lewandowski has been doing well for his age this season and even scored a brace against Newcastle United in Barcelona’s 7-2 win midweek.
