Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall got the goal that earned Chelsea a win against Djurgarden tonight, so naturally he was the man who TNT wanted to speak to at full time.
The midfielder gave his thoughts on the win and his team’s progress through the tournament as a whole:
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall clears out defenders and scores.
“It feels amazing to be in the final. We set our sights on getting as far as we can in this tournament, it’s been a long couple of months, but one more game to go and hopefully we can lift that trophy,” KDH said.
“It was a game where we had to be patient, they’re in a low block, thankfully I saw a little bit of space, went through, Ty[rique George] played me a lovely ball, it was great to get a goal.”
He also had some slightly pointed comments about the expectations put on his team for the competition, which the Blues have been heavy favourites for since the moment they qualified:
“It would mean everything to win this. Look, I ain’t gonna sugar coat it, a lot of people will have said at the start of the season we need to win this. But I have to say if we do win this, we deserve a lot of credit, because I know what football is like. It’s not easy. There are tens of teams in this tournament, hundreds of players in this competition trying to win it. So I think if we do win it, which I hope we can, I think the lads and the staff deserve a lot of credit, because we’ve had pressure from the first match day and we’ve been professional, we’ve been dedicated, now we’ve got one more game.”
