With Barcelona preparing for the must-win second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, Dani Olmo expressed excitement and assured fans that the team have “full confidence” under Hansi Flick.
The 26-year-old Spaniard labelled last week’s six-goal thriller at Montjuïc as “a very even match,” in which “we had opportunities to score, but also situations in which we should have defended a little bit better.”
Still, ahead of Tuesday’s clash at the San Siro, Olmo insisted: “We know what we’re playing for, we’re doing well, so we don’t have to change anything.”
Days like these are, he explained, why he chose to sign for the Blaugrana. Despite a rocky start to life with the club as a result of administrative processes, the Terrassa-born midfielder revealed that “I never regretted it. I was 100% confident.”
“I came with one goal – to win – and at the moment, we’ve got two out of four titles. I’ve been through some tough times […] but it’s clear that everything has been worth it.”
Hansi Flick’s Barça are aiming to join to join Pere Romeu’s Barcelona Femení in the final of a UEFA Club Competition this season, with the women’s team having thrashed Chelsea 8-2 over two legs to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League final on May 24.
Should the Blaugrana triumph in Milan on Tuesday, where kickoff is scheduled for 20:00 BST [21:00 CEST], they’ll face either PSG or Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final at Munich’s Allianz Stadium on May 31.
