Ahead of Sunday’s game at home to Union Berlin, Dino Toppmöller spoke about personnel, Eintracht’s upcoming opponents and the importance of the league.
Following Thursday’s magnificent 5-1 victory at home to Galatasaray A.Ş in the UEFA Champions League, Eintracht resume their Bundesliga campaign on Sunday afternoon (15:30 CEST) against Union Berlin at Deutsche Bank Park. At Friday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Dino Toppmöller was asked about …
… the game against Union: “It’s going to be a completely different game with a different dynamic and a different narrative. Union will certainly let us have more possession. It’s about finding a good structure with the ball. Defensively, second balls will play a key role. We need to bring physicality to the pitch. We’re looking forward to it and know what the Bundesliga means to us. It’s where we want to qualify for nights like the one we experienced on Thursday. We want to show as much by delivering a good performance and getting the right result for Eintracht.”
… opponents Union: “I said on Wednesday that we have an exciting week of football ahead of us, and Union are very much part of that. We lost to them at home last time. That’s in the back of our minds, and there’s also a degree of anger because we know how unnecessary that defeat was. We want a different outcome on this occasion.” … personnel: “As far as the goalkeeper is concerned, as ever you’ll have to wait and see. I had a brief chat with Robin Koch this morning. He came through the game [against Galatasaray] unscathed. It was touch and go, but he gritted his teeth and came through it. He’s not in any pain related to his injury – nothing else has been damaged. In short, we’ll see how the lads are on Saturday and field a strong team on Sunday.”
… freshness: “There will definitely be personnel changes. I don’t know exactly how may yet. It depends on the final training session and the individual talks with the lads. We’ll select players who can head into the game fully fresh and raring to go.”
