‘We made too many small mistakes for this type of match’ – Luis Enrique on PSG’s loss to Marseille | OneFootball

It was a night of contrasts for Luis Enrique. While the Spaniard was named Coach of the Year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet, his Paris Saint-Germain side suffered their first defeat of the Ligue 1 season in Le Classique, falling 1-0 to Marseille at the Vélodrome.Reflecting on the performance, the Asturian admitted his side had undermined themselves with basic errors at a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “Normally when we speak about a Clasico, it’s the atmosphere, the tension for both teams. We started the match well but gifted them a goal. We lacked runs in behind in the first half and above all, we made too many small mistakes. But the second half was better, we controlled the match and we had the chance to at least draw.”Asked whether the Ballon d’Or ceremony had distracted his squad, Enrique dismissed the suggestion but again returned to PSG’s lack of precision. “We pressed in an incredible way, sensational. What we can criticise is the number of simple errors we committed – too many for this type of match. I’m not happy with the result but with the ambition, the confidence, the DNA of the team, yes.
