The new head coach of the United States national team Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise upon Christian Pulisic, but also admitted that he is worried about his use at AC Milan.

Pulisic’s start to the season has been outstanding, with six goals in his first nine games plus two assists, scoring in the derby win over Inter and against Liverpool a few days before, which earned him links with Arne Slot’s side.

The winger scored 26 goals in 145 games with Chelsea after bagging 19 goals in 127 matches with Borussia Dortmund. With the USA – who he is the captain of – he has found the net 31 times in 73 matches, while for Milan he is undroppable at present.

Pochettino was appointed head coach of the USA national team in September and he gave a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of their game against Panama, speaking of Pulisic very highly.

“A great player, fantastic player, a player that is going to help now and in the future to put the team in a place that we want. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best offensive players in the world,” he said (via Football Italia).

“He’s playing every single game, every single minute, something that we are a little bit worried about. Sometimes we need to protect, because he arrived a little bit tired.

“But that’s something I’ve spoken about before, to be in a very good relationship with the club. When we really need him, he needs to be in form, happy, strong, because he has enormous talent, he’s a fantastic player.”
